Aufheben means to both destroy and preserve, to simultaneously elevate and decimate. In Emily Mogavero's ever-growing series of drypoint prints she draws intuitively on the same zinc and copper plates, cataloging her thoughts and emotions. Although each mark is eventually erased and obscured, reflections of Mogavero's drawing are preserved in the print.
