A soft sculpture

Christina Marcantonio, Out of Hand, 2022, installation view. Thread, stuffing, oldclothing, fabric and home goods. Dimensions variable approx 7’ x 7’.

Every Night at Six treads softly between different modes of art making while ruminating on daily life, observing and celebrating the places, people and things that make up our lives. Christina Marcantonio explores themes of memory and childhood play through fiber sculptures and lens based work. Eileen de Rosas collects images from her walking practice, paying attention to the intimate connection between the body and landscape, and transforms them into multi-layered interactive sculptures. Together, de Rosas’ and Marcantonio’s work evokes the feeling of returning again and again, losing and finding oneself, and rediscovering perspectives in the everyday. Every Night at Six sets a time and place for the audience to step through a doorway into a space of reflection.

Eileen de Rosas, Clouds, 2019, wood, installation, dimensions variable.

About the Artists

Christina Marcantonio is an interdisciplinary artist who works in fiber and time-based media. Her work examines a changing relationship to the home space from childhood to adulthood. She explores memory that exists in the spaces we move about and the objects we use in our daily lives. She resides in her hometown of Littleton, Ma.

Eileen de Rosas is a multidisciplinary artist based in Arlington, Massachusetts. Sculpture, installation, and two-dimensional imagery form the base of her practice, including public art and community-focused projects. Currently, she is working on a series using digital media and fabric printing, addressing environmental concerns and the perception of the landscape by the body.

Eileen attended Parsons School of Design (BFA) and Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MFA) and has received grants from MASS MoCA, the Barr Foundation, and the Arlington Cultural Council (winner of the Dawn Moses Award). In 2012, she was an artist in residence at the Muong Cultural Center, in Hoa Binh, Vietnam. Currently. Eileen is the inaugural recipient of the Wheaton/MassArt public art partnership, launching in Fall 2022.
